Why Didn't Kanye Join Chance for "Ultralight Beam" Performance? - Highsnobiety

Chance the Rapper performed at the NBA All-Star Game halftime show in Chicago this weekend and delivered a rendition of Kanye West’s 2016 hit, “Ultralight Beam,” which Chance features on. Yet while his performance was undeniably great, the fact that Kanye was sitting courtside — literally feet away — has fans questioning why they didn’t just perform the track together.

The move seemed particularly disappointing considering that Chance brought out Lil Wayne to perform “No Problem,” followed by Quavo and DJ Khaled for “I’m the One.” It was also somewhat out of character, seeing as Kanye and Chance have linked up a couple of times recently to perform “Ultralight Beam” — for a Sunday Service in Chicago last September, and during Kanye’s Sunday Service tribute to Kobe Bryant last month.

What’s more, a picture of microphones labeled “Bieber” and “Kanye” began to circulate on Twitter, which only further fueled expectation that Kanye would join Chance for a performance.

But alas, Chance performed “Ultralight Beam” alone. Watch his full performance below and keep scrolling to discover what Twitter has to say.
