Family arrested in COVID-19 loan fraud scheme, accused of using relief funds for personal gain

A family is behind bars for their involvement in a COVID-19 loan fraud scheme.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Steeve Roberts, 39, of Coral Springs, Johnnie Jean, 42, of Coral Springs, Amanda Pierre-Phillipe, 21, of Miami, and Stephanie Paul, 26, of Miami each face charges of conspiracy to money laundering charges.

Okeechobee coach fled the country after being charged for having sex with student: Sheriff

An Okeechobee coach is still on the run dodging police after law enforcement found evidence he was having sex with an underage student.

The Okeechobee County Sheriff now says he believes Omar Ayala has left the country.

“We’ve had some difficulties in cooperation with the suspect,” said Okeechobee County Sheriff Noel Stephen.

Okeechobee County High School Coach Omar Ayala has been on the run since April after authorities say they discovered he was having sex with an underage student.

Jury finds Travis Rudolph not guilty of all charges

In the murder trial of Travis Rudolph, the jury found him not guilty of all charges.

After listening to witness testimony, closing arguments and the former FSU and NFL player himself over the span of a few weeks, the jury began deliberating around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The jurors returned their decision at about 2:10 p.m.

Shots fired at Walmart, PBSO investigates

Shots fired at a Walmart led to a heavy police presence while the cause is under investigation.

The shooting took place at the Walmart off North Congress Avenue in Lake Park at around 4 p.m. Monday, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO).

Photos taken at the scene show multiple deputies blocking off the parking lot, while the cause is under investigation.

1,300 pound leatherback sea turtle found on Jupiter Beach

A 1,300 lbs. sea turtle was spotted on the shore of Jupiter Beach.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) said this turtle is the largest ever recorded by researchers.

The sea turtle, named Patricia, was found on Jupiter Beach, and she weighs in at a little over 1,300 lbs. The center says typically, a leatherback weighs between 700-800 lbs.
