Governor DeSantis issues state of emergency for three local counties ahead of Tropical Storm Eta - NBC2 News

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a state of emergency for three counties in Southwest Florida ahead of Tropical Storm Eta.

Lee, Collier, and Hendry counties are under that state of emergency. Governor DeSantis also included Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties.

The governor issued this on Saturday out of an abundance of caution regarding Tropical Storm Eta.

Attorney General Ashley Moody also expanded Florida’s Price Gouging Hotline to encompass essential commodities.

The price gouging laws for this state of emergency apply only within the areas listed in the executive order, according to Moody. It also is only for commodities and services essential to preparing for or recovering from the storm.

The price gouging laws related to the COVID-19 emergency declaration are still in effect statewide for commodities that relate specifically to the health crisis.
