Witnesses have started to describe the chaos through Sunday’s deadly shooting rampage in Nova Scotia, Canada, which killed at least 16 individuals at multiple crime scenes and abandoned sufferers”scattered throughout the state”
A truck driver from Ontario told CTV News he stopped at a petrol station where the defendant, Gabriel Wortman, 51, was taken into custody, and afterwards died.
Tom Nurani said he ceased to shower and have breakfast when he heard a worker crying.

“She goes,’Oh my God, lock the doors, he’s here!’ And I glance out of the window and I watched a few Royal Canadian Mounted Police [RCMP] vehicles and there was five or four uniforms with guns,” explained Nurani.
Other witnesses told the news branch they saw police vehicles in the scene, heard gunshots, and saw a human body on the floor.
“All I could hear was gunshots and my spouse, I thought I was going to call 911 because she was moving into panic, it frightened her so bad,” explained Glen Hines, who had been driving from the station.
“There has been multiple, like probably involving five or 10 [gunshots]. It had been stable,” remembered Deon Wells, who lives in the region, based on CTV News.

Chris Leather, the police superintendent, wouldn’t confirm the suspect was shot by authorities but he did state”officers were involved in terminating the danger,” according to CTV News.
Wortman went to a 12-hour rampage and apparently disguised himself as a police officer. The vehicle he was in was thought to be a mock-up made to seem like an RCMP cruiser.
Among the victims was a 23-year veteran on the Nova Scotia RCMP, Constable Heidi Stevenson, a mother of 2.

“Heidi answered the call of duty and also lost her life whilst shielding those she served,” police said.
A possible motive for the shooter was uncertain as police said a lot of his victims did not know the killer. Several bodies turned inside and outside a house which police called the crime scene.
Wortman is listed as a denturist in the city of Dartmouth, near Halifax,” as stated by the Denturist Society of Nova Scotia site. A suspect photograph issued from the RCMP appears to be of the exact same individual seen in video footage being questioned about dentures by CTV Atlantic in 2014.
“My heart goes out to everyone affected in what is a dreadful situation,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, said while adding it was an additional”heavy weight” amid attempts to contain the coronavirus.

Christine Mills, a resident of the region, said it was a terrifying night for her as armed officers patrolled the roads and helicopters flew overhead searching for the suspect.
“It’s nerve-wracking as you don’t know if someone has lost their mind and is going to beat on your front door,” she explained.
Many building fires were reported too, but police did not immediately confirm specifics.
Bergerman added that”countless families” have been in mourning now who need the support of others. It had been described as the deadliest attack in history.
“Today is a catastrophic day for Nova Scotia and it will stay etched in the minds of many, for a long time to come,” explained Bergerman.

Mass shootings are comparatively uncommon in Canada. The country overhauled its gun-control legislation following gunman Marc Lepine murdered 14 girls and himself in Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique college in 1989. Before this weekend rampage, that had become the country’s worst.
